Lydia Hanich, MA, LMFT

Lydia Hanich is a licensed psychotherapist and frequent public speaker who specializes in eating disorders and body image issues. She obtained an M.A in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, a B.A. in International Business and Language Area Studies from St. Norbert College, and is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.

Throughout the eighteen years that Hanich has been treating eating and body image problems, she has lectured at conferences, taught workshops to both professionals and to the public, been interviewed on radio programs, and made guest appearances on local television stations.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Hanich has lived and studied in Europe and South-East Asia, and worked alongside Mother Teresa as a volunteer for the Missionaries of Charity in India. She has volunteered for the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team and the Santa Cruz AIDS Project Mental Health Providers. She has also served on the board of directors and as president of the Santa Cruz California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

She currently lives nestled in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains with the husband of her dreams: a man who didn't notice that she had gained fifty pounds from the time they met to the time they married!
