Margo Maine, Ph.D.
Dr. Margo Maine, cofounder of the Maine & Weinstein Specialty Group, is a clinical psychologist who has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders for more than 25 years. She is a Senior Clinical Consultant at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut, and former director of the institute's Eating Disorders Program. Author of Body Wars: Making Peace with Women's Bodies (2000) and Father Hunger: Fathers, Daughters and Food (1991), she is a senior editor of Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention.
Dr. Maine serves on the board of the Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy, and Action and the board of Dads and Daughters, and is a Founding Member and Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders. She is also a member of the Founder's Council and past president of the National Eating Disorders Association, formerly Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention. She serves on many advisory boards as well, including the National Eating Disorder Screening Project.
Dr. Maine is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the University of Connecticut Department of Psychiatry and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Hartford, Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. She is a member of the Psychiatry Department at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital's Mental Health Network and at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
A frequent presenter at numerous state, national, and international conferences, Dr. Maine has spoken on a wide range of issues related to the treatment and prevention of eating disorders and women's health. She is the author of several other books, including The Body Myth: Overcoming Women's Obsession with Weight, Food, and Body Image (2004), and co-editor of Effective Clinical Practice: The Heart of the Matter (2009) and Treatment of Eating Disorders: Bridging the Research-Practice Gap (2010).
